One Breath at a Time
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first annual One Breath at a Time event. Over $20,000 was raised for Project Yoga programs, and we are filled with gratitude. The Carnegie Center in Colombia Tusculum was a lovely spot for the evening; all three of her grand rooms were filled with supporters. Katy Knowles shared how we bring yoga and mindfulness practices to the underserved in Greater Cincinnati and examples of Project Yoga’s impact. Keynote Stephen Cope, former director of The Kripalu Institute for Extraordinary Living, shared scientific research into the use of yoga and meditation practices in school settings. Kripalu is at the forefront of combining the study of yoga with scientific validation, teams working with Harvard researchers to study yoga’s effects, mechanisms and the proper level of “dosing.” For many, seeing the science around yoga’s impact is great validation of what Project Yoga has had a pulse on since 2008. Hats off to Kripalu, your work is historic.
Thanks also to all of our Bid ‘N Buy supporters – our community came together in support of Project Yoga and we are grateful. Special thanks to all of the teachers who helped with set-up, tear down, register our guests, and making the bid ‘n buy sing. Thanks also to Chrissy Fixler, Alicia Gerlinger and Leigh Anne Meurer for decor and merchandising the Bid ‘n Buy, Karen Grass for floral and guitarist Evan Uvegas. Kudos to Donnelly Design for creating the branding for Project Yoga and One Breath at a Time. Thanks to Chefs Heather Poast and Catherine Pleva and the businesses who donated food: Skyline Chili (love those veggie burritos!), Piazza Discepoli, Meijer, Trader Joe, Cookies Uncorked, Sugar, & Lobsta Bakes. Thanks to Jim Donnelly, Ed Wernet, Dave Tobergte and Tom Syzek for bartending. Thanks to Chris Conlan, Beth & Doug Brendamour, Alicia Gerlinger and Karen Grass for hosting Project Yoga preview parties, we loved meeting your friends.
