Yoga and Its Benefits for Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Trauma in Underserved Populations

Please join us for a workshop with Yoga Therapist Katy Knowles, founder of Project Yoga.  This workshop will be focused on adapting yoga for emotional health and wellbeing and its therapeutic benefits for anxiety, depression, stress and trauma.  We will have a 30-minute lecture on the philosophy of yoga focused on how and why yoga works as a viable therapy that heals and helps people thrive in their own light.  There will be an hour and a half practice with curriculum woven throughout.  The remainder of the time will be discussion and questions as well as a closing time in Sangha.

Katy Knowles is a Certified Yoga Therapist, 500 ERYT and Para Yoga Level I Certified Teacher.  She has dedicated 35+ years to teaching Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Massage Therapy and Dance.  Rod Stryker, Laura Jane Mellencamp, Lilias Folan, Karina Ayn Mirsky and many others continue to be her teachers. Katy has also completed the Himalayan Institute’s Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Training, studying with Kathryn Templeton. Katy co-founded yogahOMe in Cincinnati in 2004 and has graduated over 200 certified yoga teachers.  Project Yoga was born out of this effort and many dedicated teachers who have a mission to serve the benefits of yoga to underserved and at-risk populations.  Katy continues to dedicate her boundless energy to Project Yoga. She leads 200-hour Teacher Trainings in the Midwest and leads Yoga and Wellness retreats at Sun Mountain Center in Colorado Springs. Katy’s passion is to share and spread the teachings through workshops and teacher trainings with an emphasis on the therapeutic benefits for underserved populations and continues her efforts to grow Project Yoga’s mission and to touch as many students as possible to feel the illuminating light of yoga for mental, physical and spiritual vitality.
